Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search box is sent to the third party that supplies those results. Our servers do not retain a copy of that search. Messages sent to us are read only as needed to answer them.
Information Logged Automatically
Our hosting keeps ordinary server logs: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. We look at this in aggregate to keep the site healthy and to see which pages readers use. Cookies or similar technologies may support basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.
What We Do With This Data
We use the limited data to operate pages, repair errors, measure traffic, and improve the reference. Visitor lists are not sold, and individual user profiles are not created.
Links to Other Websites
We link out to county and state records portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Their privacy policies, not ours, govern what you submit there. That is especially true of the sponsored search results, which a third-party company provides.
Who Might See Your Data
The service providers that host and support the site process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose data when a valid legal process requires it, and not otherwise.
Safeguarding Visitor Data
An encrypted connection protects traffic in transit, and logs are retained only while needed for the purposes stated above. Because there are no user accounts, the site stores no visitor password or account profile.
Users Under 18
The site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Some visitors may have a legal right to access, correct, or delete personal data kept by a website. The research found no enacted Hawaiʻi comprehensive data-broker deletion statute to cite here. Because we retain little, a request generally involves checking our contact mailbox and server logs. Use the Contact page to ask. Records held by Hawaiʻi or Honolulu agencies remain under the custodian's control, including privacy protections in HRS Chapter 92F.
Updates to This Policy
Any change to this policy will be posted on this page. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated version.
